The Ambroz Valley
This corner of Extremadura, bathed by the Ambroz River and surrounded by the Sierra de Béjar and the Sierra de Gredos, offers unique conditions for raising Iberian pigs in freedom and slowly curing the pieces in natural cellars, without haste, following the rhythm set by tradition and the wisdom of time.
North of Cáceres, in the heart of the Ambroz Valley
Flanked by mountains that exceed 2,000 meters
Mild winters and cool summers, perfect for healing
Charming landscapes and villages
Rural tourism in the Ambroz Valley
Besides hiking, cycling routes, and thermal baths, this valley also offers a paradise for food lovers. In every winery, every tavern, and every rural guesthouse, the star attraction is always the same: acorn-fed Iberian ham, the region’s flagship product and ambassador of the flavor and culture of the dehesa (pastureland).
From field to table
Tradition, territory and traceability
Dehesa Barón de Ley stands out because its 100% Iberian acorn-fed hams carry the character and identity of the Ambroz Valley in their very DNA. Their Iberian pigs are raised in vast pastures where they roam freely, feeding on acorns during the montanera season. Each ham is cured naturally in a unique microclimate that gives its products an unmistakable aromatic profile and texture.
