100% Iberian acorn-fed ham
PDO Dehesa de Extremadura
Exclusive Acorn Feed
Besides the Iberian breed, an exclusive acorn-based diet is another key aspect. Acorns are rich in oleic acid, which infiltrates the pig’s muscle. This results in meat with a juicier texture and a more intense flavor.
The montanera is the 4- to 6-month period that begins in late October, when the acorns fall from the trees. During these months, the pigs increase their weight by 60%, going from approximately 100 to 160 kilos.
To ensure they have the necessary amount of acorns, each pig needs about 3 hectares of pasture.

Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Dehesa de Extremadura
Founded in 1990, the Dehesa de Extremadura Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) is the most prestigious and rigorous in terms of certifying the entire production process, from the pigs’ grazing in the montanera (acorn-feeding season) to the production of Iberian products.
To obtain this certification, it is essential that the entire process, from raising the pigs to producing the Iberian products, takes place within the autonomous community of Extremadura.
Full control and traceability of the entire process
Our entire production process is certified, allowing us to ensure traceability at three key moments:
